The West Virginia State Police is required to maintain the sex offender registry under West Virginia code. Any person who has been convicted of a sex offense or an attempted sex offense or has been found not guilty by reason of mental abnormality is required to register with the West Virginia Sex Offender Registry. Required information includes:

Name, aliases and nicknames
Address where the offender resides or intends to reside. The address of any property that the offender may be able to inhabit or an area that the individual regularly visits. Post boxes may not be used in lieu of an actual residence.
Social Security number
Photograph
Description of crimes the offender was convicted for
Fingerprints
Information on any motor vehicle, trailer or motor home including the vehicle makes, model, color and license plate numbers. Trailer is to mean travel trailer, pop-up camping trailer or house trailer.
Internet accounts and screen name as well as user names or aliases the offender uses online.
Telephone or electronic paging devices that the registrant uses including home, work and mobile numbers.
Sex
Age at time of offense
Relationship to victim
Description of offense

If the person has been considered a sexual predator, they must also include:

Identifying features and physical characteristics
History of offense
Documentation for any mental treatment received
