A person who has a reportable conviction is required to register.  A reportable conviction is one that is against a minor, sexually violent offense or an attempt to commit any of those offenses.  This includes convictions that are given in other states with similar offenses under that state's laws.

An offense against a minor is defined in the law as:

• Kidnapping
• Abduction of children
• Felonious restraint
• Solicitation or conspiracy to commit an offense
• Aiding and abetting an offense

Sexually violent offenses are defined as:

• Rape in the first and second degree
• Sexual offense in the first and second degree
• Attempted rape
• Attempted sexual offense
• Intercourse and sexual offense with certain victims
• Incest between near relatives
• Employing or permitting a minor to assist in offenses against public morality and decency.
• Sexual exploitation of a minor in the first, second or third degree
• Promoting prostitution of a minor
• Participating in the prostitution of a minor
• Taking indecent liberties with minors
• Solicitation or conspiracy to commit any of the above.

Juveniles who have been transferred to superior court or convicted of sexually violent crimes must register as if they were an adult convicted of the same offense.
