In New Mexico, all sex offenders must register.  Sex offenders must have been convicted of a sex offense and must be 18 or older.  A sex offense in the state include:

• Criminal sexual penetration in the first, second, third or fourth degree
• Criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree
• Criminal sexual contact of a minor in the third or fourth degree
• Sexual exploitation of children
• Sexual exploitation of children by prostitution
• Kidnapping or false imprisonment when the victim is under 18, and the offender is not the parent
• Solicitation to commit criminal sexual contact of minor in the third or fourth degree
• An attempt to commit any of the sex offenses listed above

Only sex offenders over 18 and older are required to register.

Information required to be obtained from the sex offender include:

• Legal name
• Aliases
• Date of birth
• Social Security number
• Current address
• Place of employment
• Sex offense for which convicted
• Date and place of sex offense conviction
