| Nebraska provides information concerning high risk or Level III sex offenders in the state. The Sex Offender Registry is updated each night and the offender's classification is made by the Nebraska State patrol. All information for the registry is gathered by the local Sheriff's Offices in each county when the sex offenders registry. It is important to realize that many sex offenders choose not to register and are in violation of the law in that aspect. Therefore, the registry may not contain all Nebraska sex offenders in the state. | ||||||

Nebraska State Patrol
Nebraska State Statute 29-4002 declared that sex offenders who present a high risk to repeat their offenses should be registered through the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. The law also declares efforts of law enforcement agencies to protect the community and apprehend sex offenders are impaired due to the lack of information that is available on the individuals who have been convicted of sex offenses in their areas. The legislature determined that this policy should assist law enforcement agencies in protecting their communities by requiring individuals to be registered. The law became effective on January 1, 1997. The following individuals are required to enroll in the registry:
Juveniles are not required to register unless they are found guilty in an adult court or they are an offender who has entered Nebraska from another state where they were required to be registered. The following crimes require that a person register with the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry:
