The Kentucky State Police
provides and maintains the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. The website
is designed to promote public awareness and safety and not to embarrass
offenders. The sex offender registry has only become available in
recent years, although there have always been convicted sex offenders in the
community. It is also important to remember that not all offenders are
required to register with the registry. Registered offenders in
Kentucky fall under three categories:

State Police The Kentucky Sex Offender Registration Act applies to offenders who were convicted After July 15, 1994. Any offender who was 18 years old or older at the time of the offense or any juvenile offender who has committed the following are required to register:
A sexually violent predator is a person who has been subjected to involuntary civil commitment as a sexually violent predator. An offender must, on or before the date of his court release, the parole board, or release from a detention center must register with the appropriate local probation and parole office in the county in which the offender will live.
