Indiana Sex Offender Registries
The Indiana Sheriff's Department maintains the Indiana Sex Offender Registry.  The information on the website is derived mostly from official records as well as the offenders themselves.  Offenders are required to provide their address when they are released into the community.  It is important to remember that there are those offenders who are considered to be absconders for registering or verifying their information, therefore not all information may be correct.

Carroll County Sheriff's Department - Carroll County provides a list of names of registered sex offenders in the county, but does not provide photos or additional information other than the offender's name.

The following individuals are required to register as sex offenders in the State of Indiana:

  • Offenders who reside in Indiana
  • Offenders who spend or intends to spend at least 7 days in the state during a 180 day period.
  • Owns property to Indiana and may return there at any time.
  • An offender who works in the state but does not reside there.
  • An offender who carries on vacation or intends to work or carry on vocation for a period of time, whether full or part-time.
  • An offender who will be in the state for longer than 14 consecutive days.
  • An offender who will be in the state for an aggregate of time exceeding 30 days, during any calendar year.
  • An offender who does live in the state, but is enrolled full or part-time in an education al institution, whether private or public, including secondary schools, trade schools, professional schools or institutions of higher education.

An "offender" is any person who is convicted of a sex or violent offense including:

  • Rape
  • Criminal deviate conduct
  • Child molestation
  • Child exploitation
  • Child solicitation
  • Child seduction
  • Vicarious sexual gratification
  • Sexual misconduct with a minor
  • Incest
  • Kidnapping, if victim is under 18
  • Sexual battery
  • Criminal confinement, victim is over 18
  • Attempt to commit an offense listed above.

A "sexually violent predator" is defined as an offender who suffers from a mental abnormality or personality disorder.  This makes the person more likely to engage in repeated offenses.

Juveniles may be required to register if they are 14 years of age, on probation, parole or is discharged from a secure private facility or juvenile detention facility as a result of an adjudication as a delinquent minor for an act mentioned above.  Or, is found by the court to be likely to repeat an act that would be an offense such as thouse mentioned above.
