Florida requires all sexual offenders and predators to register with the sex offender registry.  Sexual offenders are required to report in person to an office of the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement or a county sheriff's office, in which he or she establishes residence, either temporary or permanent.  Notification must be given within 48 hours of establishing residence in Florida or within 48 hours after being released from custody, control or supervision.  Sexual predators must register within 48 hours of entering a county to establish residence.

The information gathered from the offender includes:

• Name
• Date of birth
• Social Security Number
• Race
• Sex
• Height and weight
• Hair and eye color
• Tattoos
• Identifying features
• Occupation and place of employment
• Address of permanent or legal residence or the address of a temporary residence.  within Florida as well as out of state including a rural route address and a post office box.
• Date and place of conviction
• Brief summary of offense(s) committed.

Sexual predators must provide, in addition to the above:

• Photograph
• Fingerprints
• Other information determined necessary by the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement including criminal and corrections records, genetic markers, and nonprivileged personnel and treatment records.

If the predator lives in a motor vehicle, trailer, mobile home or manufactured home, the following must be provided as well:

• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
• License plates number
• Registration number
• Description and color scheme of residence

If place of residence is a boat or houseboat:

• Hull identification number
• Manufacturer's serial number
• Name of vessel, live-aboard vessel or houseboat.
• Registration number
• Description of vessel including color scheme
