| Colorado revised the Colorado sex offender registry with the passage of the Colorado Revised Statute 16-22-110 in 2005. The state recognized that the public had a need to adequately protect themselves from any individuals who had the propensity to recommit any sexual crimes. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation maintains the Colorado Sex Offender Registry and evaluates the accuracy of the information in the registry. The records are updated daily and posted as soon as new information is available. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation also maintains a tip line so that citizens are able to notify law enforcement should they locate a sex offender who has failed to register. | ||||||

of Public Safety Any person who was convicted of an unlawful sexual offense or the enticement of a minor on or after July 1, 1991 in Colorado is required to register. If the offense was committed in Colorado, but the person resides outside of Colorado, they must also register. If the offender was released from the custody of the Department of Corrections on or after July 1, 1991 and served a sentence for an unlawful sexual offense or if the offense had an underlying factual basis involving an unlawful sexual offense, they must register. In the state of Colorado, the following offenders are required to register for life:
