Arkansas Sex Offender Registries

In Arkansas, sex offenders are required to register under the Sex Offender Registration Act of 1997. In Arkansas, all sex offenders who are registered are required to be assessed by the Sex Offender Screening & Risk Assessment Program that is coordinated by the Arkansas Department of Correction. Based on this assessment, the offender is assigned a risk level which indicates whether or not the offender is likely to reoffend. If the offender fails to submit for this assessment, they are automatically assigned a Level 3 status as highly likely to reoffend. In Arkansas, a person who poses the highest level of risk to the public is assigned either to Level 3 or Level 4. If assigned a Level 4 the, the offender is considered to be a sexually violent predator.

The following are offenders who are required to register as a sex offender in the state of Arkansas:

Individuals who are adjudicated as guilty on or after August 1, 1997 of a sexual offense.
Individuals who are serving a sentence in prison, on probation, parole or other form of community supervision s a result of an adjudication of guilt on or after August 1, 1997.
Individuals who are committed following an acquittal on or after August 1, 1997 on the grounds of metal illness for a sex offense.
Individuals who are serving a commitment as a result of an acquittal on August 1, 1997 on the grounds of mental illness for a sex offense.
Individuals who were required to register under the former Habitual Child Sex-Offender Registration Act.

In the state of Arkansas, a sex offender is a person who is adjudicated guilty, delinquent and ordered to register by a juvenile-court judge or a person who is acquitted on the grounds of mental disease or defect for a sex offense. Sexually violent predators are individuals who have been adjudicated guilty, delinquent and ordered to register by a juvenile-court judge or acquitted on the grounds of mental illness that makes the person likely to engage in predatory sexually violent offenses.
