Alaska Sex Offender Registries
The Alaska legislature directed the Department of Public Safety to provide public information regarding sex offenders and child kidnapper information in 2006.  This registry is designed to maintain a listing of registered sex offenders and child kidnappers who have been convicted of sex offenses and who have registered.  There is also a listing of those who are required to be registered, but are not in compliance.  The official Alaska Sex Offender Registry is updated daily.

Any sex offender or child kidnapper who resides in Alaska must register.  A "sex offender or child kidnapper" is a person that has been convicted of a sex offense or child kidnapping in Alaska or another state.  A juvenile who has been charged as an adult and has entered a plea of guilty, mentally ill but guilty, or nolo contender, or who has been found as guilty by a court or jury of a sex offense or child kidnapping may be required to register.

The information that is gathered from the sex offender must include:

  • Name and all aliases
  • Address
  • Place of employment
  • Date of birth
  • Driver's license number
  • Identifying features, such as scars and tattoos
  • Each conviction for a sex offense or child kidnapping
  • Date of sex offense or child kidnapping
  • Place and court of convictions
  • Whether or not the sex offender or child kidnapper has been unconditionally discharged from the conviction of a sex offense or child kidnapping and the date of that discharge.
  • Description, license plate number and vehicle identification number of the vehicles the the individual owns, whether or not they have access to them.
  • Anticipated address changes
  • Statement concerning whether or not the individual has been treated for mental abnormality or personality disorders since their conviction.

If a registered individual changes residence to another state after registering, they must provide written notice within one working day.  If the Department of Public Safety is notified of a state residence change, they must notify the FBI and the state where the offender or child kidnapper is moving to.

If an individual moves from another state to Alaska , the person must register by the next working day of being physically in the state.

If the registered offender changes addresses within the state, they must notify the change of address by the next working day to the Alaska state trooper post or police department nearest their residence.
